Important Ongoing Miscellaneous
Ollie died on 30th March 2008. He left us a collection of music, paintings and writing that we would like everyone to be able to dip into, comment on and add to. This website is a start.
Ollie was exceptional. His music is testament to that, but many might not know that he was also a talented painter and writer. Being a critical observer from a young age, his lyrics and paintings share a common thread that weaves out the statements he felt compelled to make.
Ollie loved his job as a recording engineer..."I know I'm good at it". He added an interesting and seductive flavour to all aspects of life with a friendly manner, wit, exceptional sense of humour, subtle musical talent, a good pair of ears and a desire for perfection. He gave encouragement and pleasure to all who crossed his path...
He had only partly finished his first solo album. "Important Ongoing Miscellaneous!", a name choosen by his sister, Miranda, and inspired by his filing system, is now complete. Get hold of a copy. Thanks to everyone who came and to all the musicians who played at the launch party at Salomons on Tuesday 9th December 2008. It was a great night. Thanks also to Paul Dunton who helped us organise the night and to Sam Nesbitt who was indeed a multi-pronged Octopus at the sound desk! Pictures from the night and the launch party slide show which features some of his paintings and photos of the bands Ollie played in over the years are on the photos page.
There is still more to come onto this site and functionality to build. There will be a gallery section and another where you can leave comments and upload pictures to the gallery. Digital copies of Ollies painting's taken by the lovely Sandy Danbury will soon be available for download. Any suggestions for the site are most welcome.
